DRS STEPHEN AND JULIA DUNN

Welcome. We are an outgoing and friendly practice based within Dumbarton Health Centre, which is just 25 minutes from the West end of Glasgow and is close to both Loch Lomond with its stunning scenery and the pretty town of Helensburgh.
Dumbarton Health Centre is easily accessible by road and there is ample free parking on site. The town itself is served by trains to Glasgow every 15 minutes with the station being easy walking distance from the Health Centre.
Our rooms look out onto the grassy banks of The River Leven and you can take a wander at lunchtime to Dumbarton’s Levengrove Park or Dumbarton Castle. The team can often be found in the local Costa and have been known to picnic at Dumbarton Castle during the better weather.
Our practice team consists of partners and trainers, Dr Stephen Dunn and Dr Julia Dunn and an amazing administrative and clinical Primary Health Care Team. The PHCT consists of our Practice Nurse, trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Foundation doctors, GP trainees, First Contact Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, Wellbeing Nurse, Community Links Worker and Healthcare Assistant. We are also supported by experienced Community District Nurses and Health visiting team who are based within the Health Centre.
Our Current Practice List size is 4500 and growing. As a Practice we strive to provide the best possible care to our patients, many of whom have been registered since their birth.
Both Dr Stephen Dunn and Dr Julia Dunn were trained in the locality and enjoyed the experience so much that they stayed. The area provides a host of amenities from mountains and lochs to excellent schools, and is a fantastic location to live and work.
Dr Stephen Dunn is an Integrated Care General Practitioner working out of hours at The Vale of Leven Hospital. This is an innovative and novel role where General Practitioners look after medical patients in the Vale of Leven Hospital as well as providing OOH care to GP patients. This is something that interested trainees can participate in if they wish. Stephen also has an interest in dermatology, working for many years in our local clinic and is the Cluster Quality Lead.
Dr Julia Dunn teaches undergraduate medical students at University of Glasgow and is an Honory Senior Clinical Lecturer as well as being the lead trainer in the practice.
As a team we provide an enthusiastic and supportive learning environment leading to quality training. After a thorough induction where you will spend time with many of the team members, you will then start consulting supported by the trainers. Gradually as your confidence and knowledge grows you will become more and more independent. In addition to your weekly tutorial we run morning educational sessions twice weekly for all the clinicians as well as a weekly practice meeting for all team members. These meetings cover administrative, clinical, organisational and training matters as well as being another educational opportunity where we discuss Learning Events. Coffee and croissant also play a large role in the meetings and is an excellent way to start your day. All clinical and administrative staff are involved in both formal and informal teaching activities providing a wide range of learning.
Further information can be found on our practice website by following the link or by emailing our Practice Manager, Mrs Fern Bissett or Dr Julia Dunn. We look forward to meeting you.
